This brings us up to August, 2008. I bought a 2002 Porsche Boxster S. It was triple grey, meridian silver with all the trimmings. It was a beautiful car! I had an exhaust and software upgrade done by Dynocomp and the audio system done by Signature Audio. The engine upgrades resulted in about a gain of 25HP and 30ft/lbs of torque. It was a fast car! But, I also had it towed to the dealership 4 times.
The car went through 3 fuel pumps. Porsche told me they had seen one other car have the same problem, but other than that they had no idea what kept going wrong. Germany told them that it was the fuel out here in AZ, but that can't be since there are no other cars with the same problems. Finally, after about spending 10K and getting the car running perfect, I decided it was the best time to sell it. Also, the economy was still strong enough that I could get a good price for the car and when I went to buy a new car, I figured I would be able to get a good deal. It made since.
I sold the car to a good guy in Chandler. He called me about 6 months after he bought and told me that it was running perfect, naturally. I'm happy for him. Besides, it brings us up to the entire point of this blog, building a 320HP 2008 Honda Accord Coupe 6 speed V-Tec.
With the Porsche for sale, I bought a new 2008 Honda Accord Coupe in December 2007. The Porsche sold in February.
In deciding what type of new car to buy, I started my search fairly broad. By the time I had narrowed it down to just a few cars I was looking at the new 3.5 liter Altima Coupe, the V6 Accord Coupe, and the new RX-8. I test drove all 3 and in the following posts is my evaluation of each new car with no modifications.
